Saguaro Cactus skeletons are beautiful and mysterious.
They can be hundreds of years old.
It is no longer legal to remove them from the desert floor. This one was collected back in the 60's.
The skeleton show the many vascular tubes that make up the plant. This allows it to fill up with water and and therfore stay alive in the desert for long periods of time.
It makes a powerful image as a sculpture.
